LEO Pharma Open Innovation is a truly unique and successful collaboration initiative that reaches out to researchers all over the world by sharing pharmaceutical science and capabilities. We are now looking for an essential addition to our team, who will help us improve the digital interface to the external world.
In this new position as the Digital Interface Scientist, you will design and develop digital tools that will make LEO research data accessible to our Open Innovation partners, as well as making it easier for others to engage in our Open Innovation activities. Furthermore, you will help us transform the workflow to become more digital and transparent, as our ambitions are to work with open science on a global level.
Below is a list of tasks we need help with, but as we are continuously evolving and our current needs will change, it is very important that you are able to - and enjoy - working in an environment that requires on-the-fly learning, constant experimentation and proactive problem solving;
Continuously improve the user-experience of the Open Innovation platform making it easier for others to engage with us
Automation of data handling processes and generation of data reports, e.g. using Python and R including packages such as knitr, LaTeX and Shiny
Establish data flow tracking and visualization by extracting data from many different internal sources
Explore features such Machine Learning, contribute to the development of our AI-driven research tools and expand our open source research offerings
You are skilled in scripting and programming - possibly even full stack capabilities - and have an interest in science, maybe combined with bioinformatics or cheminformatics experience. You have the motivation to program independently and have perhaps also worked hands on with biological or chemical datasets. Furthermore, you have a positive and curious mind with a creative problem-solving approach, making it easy for you to identify critical obstacles and find new ways to solve (or circumvent) them. Understanding the different aspects of pharmaceutical R&D is of great value.
The purpose of this role is to develop digital solutions that increase accessibility to, and usability of, our Open Innovation research platform, which is a portal for external parties to engage with LEO research capabilities based on open source and open science principles. In this platform we test external partners’ molecules in several internal research models, generate data, and report the outcome in order to explore new scientific collaboration opportunities.
At LEO Pharma our mission is to develop new great treatments for people with skin disorders and to do so we work with many different partners, including other pharma companies, biotechs, start-ups, academics, and students. Therefore we need to develop user-friendly digital tools that will further reduce the barriers and difficulties of global scientific collaborations. As trust is critical for us and our partners, we need to be transparent all the way, from when we receive the molecules, to when we compile the data, report the findings and put it into context.
You will be joining a small and dedicated Open Innovation team that currently includes three people, but works on daily basis together with many different individuals and teams across the organisation and world.
