Principal Scientist to be part of the newly formed Advanced Biologics department in discovery

Provide expertise in biologics drug discovery, project management and international collaborations in dermatology in our discovery projects

If you are a natural science PhD with extensive knowledge on drug discovery, pharmaceutical project management in the stage-gate model, and biologics drugs, this is just the job for you. You will play a pivotal role within LEO Pharma Research and our newly formed Advanced Biologics department and will thereby get the opportunity to help patients with dermatological conditions all over the world. Drive biologics projects in our research organisation in close collaboration with an external partner, internal stakeholders, including translational medicine and potentially external academic groups

Your role will be to run biologics projects for dermatology in our newly formed Advanced Biologics department. The primary focus for you will be projects from the early discovery phase to PoC, run in collaboration with our partners. You plan and lead projects and the project team, building and adhering to the plan and presenting according to the stage-gate model to internal boards and stakeholders. You also participate in the strategy work on novel indications, technologies and new target identification. Furthermore you give input to the translational strategy for biomarkers.

Your primary tasks will be to:
• Have a strong research focus, bringing drug discovery knowledge within antibodies, preferably in inflammation and dermatology
• Day to day running of 1-2 projects, internal project teams and external partner teams
• Pro-actively interact with areas of disciplines across the organisation, departments in skin biology, PK/PD and translational medicine
• Ensure alignment of expectations and timely delivery of data in the projects
• Ensure engaged project teams
• Participate in scientific discussions in the department and across the research area
• Participate in academic collaborations


Your knowledge and experience

You hold a PhD in natural science and have 5+ years of industrial experience, in biologics drug development and industrial project management. Your knowledge covers building project plans, motivation of teams and the scientific area of therapeutic antibodies, immunology and translational biomarkers. Preferably you have experience with biologics technologies eg phage display or bi-specifics.
To succeed, you must possess collaborative skills, leadership interest, solid analytical skills, strategic focus and have the ability to communicate complex messages in a logical and easy understandable way, You are at a high level in written and spoken English. You will have many contacts across geography, professions and cultures and have the ability to understand a challenge from the perspective of the person you interact with. Finally, you must like to take proactive action when needed and ensure progress of the tasks at hand.


Advanced Biologics – your new department

Our newly formed department, consist of 3 scientists working in projects across the entire drug development chain from target selection to PoC and further MoA studies on late stage projects. We oversee collaboration with international partners on development of biologics drugs. You are expected to participate in discussion and challenge of our other research projects and participate in our biomarker and PK/PD discussions.
